Course of Studies
Ellison students are challenged by a demanding curriculum that emphasizes higher order thinking and communication skills in every discipline. Students also have access to latest technology and to reach beyond school walls to obtain information and research that enhances their understanding of subject material.
Each year, students write 24 essays and/or research papers. In addition to the 27 required credits, students must complete 40 hours of community service prior to graduating.

In addition, beginning in August 2009, Ralph Ellison students have the opportunity to take AP Literature and Composition, AP Statistics and AP US History. In August 2010, AP Language and Composition and AP Environmental Science will be added to course offerings.
