Our Mission

CICS Ralph Ellison Campus is an urban high school dedicated to offering students a college preparatory education emphasizing rigor, relevance, and relationships.

  • Programs of study are rigorous—providing students with the knowledge and skills requisite for success in college and careers.
  • Students relate education to relevant, real world experiences, exercising active citizenship and developing individual potential.
  • Adult advocates in the learning community value supportive relationships, fostering the intellectual and personal formation of each student.

CICS Ellison is named for the African-American writer and teacher who achieved international fame with his first novel, Invisible Man. Ellison’s novels and essays were transformative in our thinking about race, identity and what it means to be an American.
